When It Finally Rains

"Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field."

Zechariah 10:1

     You know that feeling when you’ve worked and prayed and hoped for something–then the blessing finally comes. I think I’ve always thought of this moment as a loud celebration, but I’ve realized that, for me, it more often comes as a gentle realization. Some of my most heartfelt prayers have been answered so gradually and gently that I don’t recognize the blessing until it is already familiar to me.

     This painting is about that moment, when-after prayer and work–the rain finally comes. So whether your blessings come as a gentle sprinkle, or a heavy downpour accented with lightning and thunder, I hope you have the chance to celebrate when it finally rains.
