Selfless Love

 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

John 13:34

I drew the inverted hand heart on a soft blue background with the hope of capturing a quiet peaceful type of love.

This gesture is known to be trickier to make. It isn’t the type of love that you hold up high for everyone to see. This hand heart is best perceived by others, and it can be difficult for the person making the gesture to see it clearly. It is most often placed right in front of your heart. 

In my mind this represents quiet meaningful acts of service.

Family members are the best at showing this type of love. Like moms and dads who make meals, do laundry, and chauffeur their kids. And parents or spouses who fill tires and change oil in the cars. Even things like takin out the trash or cleaning the bathroom can be loving acts of service.

This type of love takes sacrifice. It’s intentional and heartfelt. But it happens so regularly that the person giving love sometimes can’t see the positive impact they’re making. So it’s up to those receiving to recognize and return the love that has been given.
