But as I’ve looked closer I’ve realized they all portray love a little differently.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p3\"\u003eThis classic hand heart reminds me of recognizable joyful love.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p3\"\u003eIt was the first type of hand heart to gain popularity in the US, and has since become almost universally recognized. But as I was looking at it, I realized that this type of hand heart usually looks best to the giver of the gesture, and sometimes looks less like a heart to those meant to receive it.\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p3\"\u003eSo to me this symbol represents traditional loving gestures. It is one of the first ways we learn to love.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p4\"\u003eThis looks like flowers and chocolates and loving notes. It’s texting someone happy birthday, celebrating milestones, and hugging someone who is having a hard time. It’s trusting that they love you \u003ci\u003eand \u003c\/i\u003ebeing the kind of person they can trust to love them. It isn’t the type of love that you hold up high for everyone to see. This hand heart is best perceived by others, and it can be difficult for the person making the gesture to see it clearly. Like moms and dads who make meals, do laundry, and chauffeur their kids. And parents or spouses who fill tires and change oil in the cars. Even things like takin out the trash or cleaning the bathroom can be loving acts of service.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p4\"\u003eThis type of love takes sacrifice. It’s intentional and heartfelt. But it happens so regularly that the person giving love sometimes can’t see the positive impact they’re making.
